Community
The purpose of the Everest marathon has always been to raise money for charity but also to develop a community of trekkers and runners who share their experience.
Since 1987, £690,000 has been generated to fund a wide range of development, educational and health projects in rural Nepal.
Fiona Smith ran the Everest Marathon in 2017 and managed to raise the magnificent amount of £2,431.23, with the help of her reindeer! Her family run the business Cairngorm Reindeer.
She also came first international female - carrying hay up those those Scottish hills is good training. You can read an account of her Fiona's Everest Marathon 2017
